In the wake of the latest wikileaks' cables release in The Hindu, Manmohan Singh has no more moral right to continue as the country's prime minister and so do the rest of the pack of thieves masquerading as cabinet ministers and political leaders in the Congress and the UPA.

Global Recovery and Currency Wars

As large parts of the world economy remain engulfed in the most serious downturn witnessed since the 1930s, trade and currency rivalries have intensified and even threaten to take the shape of geo-political conflicts. Vineet Kohli, of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, examines the debate over currency wars.

What are the wikileaks' #cablegate leaks all about?

On the Outcome of the Obama Visit

Notwithstanding the fulsome praise for the one-sided and unequal relations with the United States in the corporate media, the real interests of the people of India are not served by such a relationship. What is required is a Indo-US relationship which is based on equality and mutual interest. A statement on the Obama visit from the Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) .

Failure of the "Am-Pak" strategy

The rejuvenation of jihadi forces in Pakistan and Afghanistan, its traditional backers in the Pakistani Army and the changed emphasis of the US vis-a-vis these forces, points to the failure of the Indian reliance on the "Am-Pak" strategy - using US leverage to take on terror directed at India, from within Pakistan.

Films like other performative cultural forms can speak the language of its own times, in which they have been created and situated. As a visual reflection of society in which it is contextualized, it can speak both covertly and overtly about the past and present world, and albeit can articulate politics and reflect upon philosophy as well. James Cameron’s Avatar, a mainstream Hollywood blockbuster is not an exception in this regard. Maidul Islam writes in his review of the film.

Pragoti carries another two articles by Ralph Nader and Ilan Pappe with this one.

U.S. votes against "right to food" in UN General Assembly

Remember that the U.S. ruling class helped to cause the world food crisis. The U.S.' policy of promoting "free trade" and neoliberal reform through the IMF/World Bank is quite literally promoting starvation. Just look at what we did to Haiti. This vote seems to be a new low, as far as I can tell. Calling the "right to food" a human right in a toothless diplomatic resultion costs nothing and requires no further action. I'm not sure if this vote was motivated by free market fundamentalism or pure sadism, says Daisy Cutter's Dailykos Diary.
