PRAGOTI

It was with deep sadness that I learnt of the passing away of Shri Dipankar Mukherjee. I only met him once accidentally while visiting Nilotpal Basu and his wife at the VP House shortly before the elections in West Bengal. We had an impromptu discussion on various issues. He impressed me tremendously not only with his knowledge on a wide range of topics, but also his simplicity and warmth. I have often thought of writing to him. It would no longer be possible. I did not get to know him long enough to call him "Dipankarda." A great loss for his friends and comrades, not to mention the country.
