Yes, I agree with your take on the film/making part of it. So it’s not unexpected for such films to trivialize important initiatives like reservation. The effort was to see it in this light & also the furore it created, especially on free speech, etc. The ed. of The Hoot is quite apt when it says that ‘free speech battles should be fought over more deserving material’.
