Kolkata: The prospects of Japanese investment for future projects in the State were reportedly discussed by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee here on Thursday. Some ministers of the State government were also present at the meeting.
The proposed East-West Metro corridor, to be funded by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, and the funding of the Bakreshwar thermal power plant were discussed, Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta said.
IT sector
Dr. Dasgupta said that Mr. Abe was told that West Bengal’s advancement in software and Japan’s progress in hardware could be combined to develop West Bengal in an integrated manner.
Expertise was sought from the Japanese government in disaster management and solid waste management.
