It is nice to read such a comprehensive analysis on such a large issue. Very contextual especially keeping in mind the all-out attack by reactionary and opportunist forces.
An important part of this article is also on self-correction i.e. on the negative features (in the context of the debacle that the party and the Left front is facing in WB). Let me quote:
"This *cannot* be attributed to the functioning of the Left Front government alone. The causes of such alienation lie in the *political* sphere and also in the organisational shortcomings and weaknesses of the Party. "
This is the most correct analysis of the declining strength of the government and of the party (I insist on the latter because it is often being assumed that it is a crisis for the government alone and not so much for the party).
It would have been nicer if a few more words were written on this issue to bring out clarity. I know it would be said that it is there in the report of the party on the elections in WB. But in the context of this article which is analysing 33 years of the Left rule in WB, it is also apt to analyse the unexpected decline.
