Fascism with a Red Flag

As the polling for the 15th Lok Sabha gets going, there has been an all too familiar story of attacks and disruption of the polling process by the a so-called communist party which tags the name of Mao to its posterior! Attacking the very people whom it claims to represent as they go about exercising their hard earned right to vote is a clear symptom of fascist politics. The right to vote was not a gift to the Indian masses by the ruling class politicians, but rather a democratic right wrenched through intense popular struggles against colonialism. The ruling classes were forced to concede this right to the Indian people and the Maoists today attack this same right of the people.

Here is an editorial of the Economic and Political Weekly which rightly exposes the Maoist attack on the democratic right of the people.

And it is not only the people's right to vote which they attack. They regularly bomb and destroy schools and primary health centres in the most underserved and poor areas, as this latest instance again shows. Who's interest does it serve, in this era of neoliberalism, to destroy schools and health centres for the poor?

It appears that there is no limit to the stupidity and criminality of these petit-bourgeois semi-fascist lads playing "comrade comrade".
