AN UNCOMPROMISING FIGHTER AGAINST COMMUNAL FORCES: Jyoti Basu on Harkishen Singh Surjeet
Comrade Surjeet has passed away. In expressing my respectful regards in his memory, I would say that we would certainly reach the goal for the achievement of which he toiled throughout his life. The task is a hard, it would take time, the struggles, and movements would undergo a process of ebbs and flows, but we do believe that we shall reach our goal.
Red Salute to comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet
Comrade Harkishan Singh Surjeet breathed his last today, after having battled declining health for quite sometime. Comrade Surjeet was the third general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and a long time Kisan Sabha leader from the state of Punjab. Before India's independence, he had actively participated in the freedom movement, having been a member of Bhagat Singh's Naujawan Bharat Sabha. Pragoti condoles the death of this freedom fighter and leading communist leader in India.
