The debacle of the former Soviet Union afforded an important
occasion to draw the correct lessons for the train of events that led to the
collapse. The importance of the anti-imperialist character of the October
Revolution was immediately relevant in the case of India where the attempts
at hegemony by US imperialism must be resisted and foiled, a task to which
the Communist Party of India (Marxist) remained fully dedicated.General Secretary of the CPI(M) Prakash Karat, and Biman Basu, Polit Bureau
member of the Party said this on an occasion to commemorate the 90th year of
the Bolshevik Revolution.
