This early morning, I came across a news item that mentioned that Wikileaks had now a new smoking gun on its site - the entire tranche of close to 5 million emails exchanged between Stratfor employees internally and externally. Stratfor, is a "private intelligence" company which publishes intelligence information for public consumption ostensibly. But that it seems ..is only a public facade. This agency is more than that; it also uses the tactics adopted by traditional spooks to wheedle out information from paid (or otherwise) informants - in government and out of it - across the globe and have also acted as a some kind of a shady operator in the interests of the US covert agencies as well.
Investigative journalist Gerald Posner of the Daily Beast brings about a startling revelation - that the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, alleged co-conspirator and operative in the gruesome Mumbai terror attacks on November 26, 2008, David Headley was also a US double agent.
Here we build a prima facae case supporting the idea that Hollywood continues to be a target for infiltration and subversion by a variety of state agencies, in particular the CIA. Academic debates on cinematic propaganda are almost entirely retrospective, and whilst a number of commentators have drawn attention to Hollywood’s longstanding and open relationship with the Pentagon, little of substance has been written about the more clandestine influences working through Hollywood in the post-9/11 world. As such, our work delves into the field of what Peter Dale Scott calls "deep politics"; namely, activities which cannot currently be fully understood due to the covert influence of shadowy power players.
Philip Agee ,a former CIA covert operations officer, who now lives in Havana, writes about how United States imports subversion and civic unrest to overthrow Governments hostile to it.
