In an article written for Monthly Review,Prof.Utsa Patnaik traces the origins of Food crisis,laying bare the long tern factors giving rise to the problem.The causes of the food crisis are explained in terms of three contradictions which are, 'Food ( for population in develoing world) versus Feed ( for the livestock in the developed countries),'Food for Export versus Food for Local Population' and Food versus Fuel.
