The Case of Afzal Guru: Time to Say No to Death Penalty

It was a shock and surprise for the entire nation when on 9th February morning news channels flashed that Afzal Guru; one of the accused in the Parliament attack case was hanged in Tihar jail and last rites was performed in jail. The Home Minster addressed the press without giving much details, except for timing of hanging, some brief about the rejection of mercy plea by the President, etc.

 Mumbai is once again attacked by terrorists and all possible clues are indicating that declared as dormant Indian Mujahadeen (IM) easily succeeded in breaching the security of Mumbai. Timer bombs were used to trigger serial blasts in different parts of Mumbai and it is placed carefully to inflict maximum damage to the life of innocent people. There are also some unconfirmed reports that suicide bomber was used in Zaveri Bazar but it appears more of media speculations because suicide bombing squad is not common with every terrorist organization.
